Honey Garlic Chicken
Equipment
- Large skillet or wok
- Mixing bowls

Ingredients
For the Chicken:
- 1 ½ lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs (or breasts) cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tbsp cornstarch for coating
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
For the Honey Garlic Sauce:
- ⅓ cup honey
- ¼ cup soy sauce low sodium preferred
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes optional, for heat
- 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water slurry for thickening
For Garnish & Serving:
- 2 tbsp sesame seeds optional
- 2 tbsp green onions chopped
- Cooked white rice or steamed vegetables
Instructions
Prepare the Chicken:
- In a bowl, toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
Sear the Chicken:
- Heat 2 tbsp oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the chicken and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Make the Honey Garlic Sauce:
- In the same skillet, add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer.
Thicken the Sauce:
- In a small bowl, mix 1 tbsp cornstarch with 2 tbsp water to create a slurry.
- Pour the slurry into the sauce and stir until it thickens (1-2 minutes).
Coat the Chicken & Serve:
- Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, tossing to coat in the sauce.
- Cook for another 1-2 minutes until heated through.
Garnish & Enjoy:
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve over steamed rice or veggies.
Notes
- Use chicken breast instead of thighs for a leaner option.
- Swap honey for maple syrup for a different sweetness.
- Add broccoli or bell peppers for extra veggies.
