Ingredients

For the Chicken:

  • 1 ½ lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs (or breasts) cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch for coating
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

For the Honey Garlic Sauce:

  • cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce low sodium preferred
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes optional, for heat
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water slurry for thickening

For Garnish & Serving:

  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds optional
  • 2 tbsp green onions chopped
  • Cooked white rice or steamed vegetables

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken:

  • In a bowl, toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.

Sear the Chicken:

  • Heat 2 tbsp oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  • Add the chicken and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Make the Honey Garlic Sauce:

  • In the same skillet, add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Stir in honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer.

Thicken the Sauce:

  • In a small bowl, mix 1 tbsp cornstarch with 2 tbsp water to create a slurry.
  • Pour the slurry into the sauce and stir until it thickens (1-2 minutes).

Coat the Chicken & Serve:

  • Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, tossing to coat in the sauce.
  • Cook for another 1-2 minutes until heated through.

Garnish & Enjoy:

  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve over steamed rice or veggies.

Notes

Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet over medium heat.
