For the Chicken: 1 ½ lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs (or breasts) cut into bite-sized pieces 2 tbsp cornstarch for coating ½ tsp salt ½ tsp black pepper 2 tbsp vegetable oil For the Honey Garlic Sauce: ⅓ cup honey ¼ cup soy sauce low sodium preferred 4 cloves garlic minced 1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar 1 tsp sesame oil ½ tsp red pepper flakes optional, for heat 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water slurry for thickening For Garnish & Serving: 2 tbsp sesame seeds optional 2 tbsp green onions chopped Cooked white rice or steamed vegetables
Sear the Chicken: Heat 2 tbsp oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
Add the chicken and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Make the Honey Garlic Sauce: In the same skillet, add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Stir in honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer.
Thicken the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix 1 tbsp cornstarch with 2 tbsp water to create a slurry.
Pour the slurry into the sauce and stir until it thickens (1-2 minutes).
Coat the Chicken & Serve: Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, tossing to coat in the sauce.
Cook for another 1-2 minutes until heated through.
Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days . Reheat in a skillet over medium heat.
