Soft, fluffy, and brushed with garlic butter, these homemade Buttery Garlic Knots are the perfect side for pasta, pizza, or soup. They are easy to make and absolutely irresistible!
In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
Make the Dough:
In a large bowl, combine flour and salt.
Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, then mix until a dough forms.
Knead on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
Let the Dough Rise:
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Shape the Knots:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
Roll each piece into a 6-inch rope, tie it into a knot, and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Bake to Perfection:
Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown.
Prepare the Garlic Butter:
While the knots are baking, mix melted butter, minced garlic, salt, oregano, and parsley in a bowl.
Brush & Serve:
Brush the warm knots with garlic butter and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if using.
